i never see any technical guys get in depression , only normal people like who fall is love bla bla they only get depressed alot and cannot handle life.

Hard to believe this thread is from 2017, as it's very relevant now. I'm sure a lot of people are going through psychological stress with everything going on in the world.

I know of a few people In the IT Industry who are suffering depression.

Due to their line of work, they tend to keep It to themselves.

As someone who suffers from depression, alot of it is attitude. If you sit there and focus on being depressed, you will continue to be depressed. Get on your feet and do something.

Best advice. Although, depression makes you not want to do anything. However, if you can force yourself to get up and do something, you won't regret it.

Depressed people may not want to talk to anyone about their problems with depression because they think they are weak to feel down, or because they are afraid of answers / thoughts they are getting (eg He is so miserable, he just wants attention etc. ...).

I think that a lot of depression has to do with attitude (as others have said) but also with a lack of a healthy lifestyle. If you don't exercise or eat right, how can you expect to be happy / satisfied?

That's a very rough explanation. However, I do agree with you - but not completely.

It's not uncommon that successful people feel depressed. I think the reason is that many of them expect to be happy after accomplishing their goals (e.g. "I will be happy if I get a new car, game, phone...") instead of living in the journey of completing their goals. You should be happy both while you perform in a movie and when you get paid for it, not only when you get paid. This is the reason many people never feel truly happy or rewarded for their work, therefore they start using drugs to fill those gaps which eventually become even bigger.

They would feel weak in the wrong community but could feel better in the right one. The simple solution is changing friends that make you feel down (because that's not real friendship, let's be real) and meeting new ones that will accept you for who you are and take you seriously.

I agree. You should always force yourself in order to do something good for your body. One small decision to go for a run could change your life. As Boudica said, you will not regret it.
