I'm usually pretty prompt when It comes to personal heath, so every 6 months (sometimes a little longer) I visit my dentist for a full checkup. Upon yesterday's visit, he said my gums are perfect with no signs of gingivitis nor any other form of gum disease. Good news there. Much to my surprise, he did find a very small cavity In one tooth which was filled there and then, and the rest of my teeth are perfect.
So who visits their dentist on a regular basis? If not, (why?) and how long has It been since your last examination?

I'm actually amazed at how quick cavities can form. I remember one time I didn't have any and 6 months later (for a routine checkup), the dentist found one. He's been my family dentist for decades, so he didn't try and rip me off by not being truthful.

They won't magically disappear, so cavities must be treated the moment they're Identified.
