Visit To The Dentist - mothered - 06-08-2017

Greetings to all,

I'm usually pretty prompt when It comes to personal heath, so every 6 months (sometimes a little longer) I visit my dentist for a full checkup. Upon yesterday's visit, he said my gums are perfect with no signs of gingivitis nor any other form of gum disease. Good news there. Much to my surprise, he did find a very small cavity In one tooth which was filled there and then, and the rest of my teeth are perfect.

So who visits their dentist on a regular basis? If not, (why?) and how long has It been since your last examination?

That's decent as fuck that you keep up with visiting dentist, I'm due for a checkup soonish I think.

I had one bad experience not too long ago, whereby I had a massive toothache due to a chipped tooth.

It was the worst pain I've ever had, and I vowed to never go through It again by having regular checkups.

I do the same thing. I had 1 cavity in one of my wisdom teeth that's pretty much all there was. It's been about a month since my last checkup.

It's great you're getting regular checkups.

Those who don't are either too lazy, or can't afford It. Around a year ago a friend of mine chipped his tooth so bad, that It was almost flush with the gum. It didn't hurt at the time (I don't know how/why), and when asked to go to the dentist he replied "Nah, If It starts hurting I'll just take pain killers". Sure enough, 6 months later the pain all of a sudden hit and he was almost In tears- calling every dentist to try and make an appointment.

The moral of the story Is no matter how tough you are, a severe toothache will bring you down to your knees and keep you there until It's sorted.

Of course that's why you need appointments every so often. I hope he learned his lesson.

I couldn't afford it for many years, when I moved to Colorado I qualified for medical insurance from the government which covered so much dental, so I got in and got as much done as I could, I still have two bad teeth left, got my wisdoms pulled, and got all my cavities filled. I lived with constant toothaches for a number of years so it was such a relief to finally start getting things taken care of. Proper dental health can be expensive but it is worth it in the long run.

A lesson well learned Indeed.

I neglected to mention that he grabbed a pair of pliers and asked me to pull the tooth out. By no means did I attempt It. The tooth was flush with the gum and even If I could get a hold of It, the chance of Infection (not to mention the pain he would've experienced) would have significantly Increased.

I usually visit the dentist on a 6 month basis. Same as you, since I do care about my teeth and my personal appearance.

I may actually make an appointment soon though because recently I have been having this toothache and it's killing me.

Well since I am still below 18, my parents kind of make me go to the dentist every 6 months. I do not regret it though, as toothaches are horrible.
