Yeah I used to have most accounts under a variation of a single password but I realized it got cracked a while ago which is a shame. I switched to a local password manager with varied passwords and migrated my important accounts over.

Were you able to use Google/w.e browser you use to help make the transition?

Nah I just manually reset every account and generated a new password.

Does anyone have experience with Bitwarden? Tomorrow I plan on getting started with this before school starts back up and I never get to it.

Re-using passwords is a really bad habit that you should abandon. If you use the same password for everything, it only takes one breach for your other accounts to be compromised.

Yeah, I got quite a scare there.  If it weren't for my more important logins required more complex passwords, they too would probably be the same.

I think it's time I get a place to store all my passwords other than Chrome, although it was useful in alerting me about the breach.

why you need a program to generate/store your passwords ? thats extremely dangerous, since that program can be created by some Organization to make it easy for them to collect millions of passwords rather than investing in cracking passwords which cost more. or there is a code flaw in generating peoples passwords that will be discovered 1 year from now and it could reveal all the possible passwords that can be created with that software in one day. also, the news in recent years shows that hacking into popular software's main servers is not that hard, which makes it scary when you don't notice that a particular signed program installs some fishy stuff or uploads files from your Laptop and you think that it is a legit software which it is but its main server was hacked, and that happened to many Softwares like Team Viewer,CCleaner, Tesla's Autopilot  server..etc so your passwords are the bedrock of your security online so better know how to generate them and manage them without externel hands. i will give you a more simple and secure way of storing your passwords,first make a big and secure password and let it be the main password that you will not forget it. ok after that create a new txt file and put all your accounts linked with your passwords in that text file like this for example:

after storing your stuff there create a zip file using as an example 7zip program which is an open source compressing tool with an AES256 encryption. so next time you want to add an account or password open the archived file with your main password that you remember and then the txt file and add your new stuff, then close it and press ok to confirm the update without creating  another txt file. Now you are done and you only remember one password to open that archive. also you have to duplicate your archive to another flash drive as a mean of security incase you lose your hard drive or something.

Chrome has been sending me a data breach alert for the past few days and I thought it was some bs.  Never been a victim of a data breach with one of my serious passwords.  I finally Google my primary email to find out that I'm actually part of some long-ass list released a few days ago.  I literally use this password for most things, it's my go-to.  I have about 400 accounts saved on my chrome with this password.  I really don't want to go through that list, picking and choosing what to change and what's to be left alone.  Are there any alternatives, to perhaps getting the list taken down?

Try to use some password manager, personnaly i use Dashlane who is pretty handy, just need one complex password that you use as master and then you can easily create and manage strong and unique password for every website you register

I see, so It relates to whether your account was compromised on a given site.

It's a very handy feature they've added.

I don't know lastpass or the technology used by lastpass, from what i see is that Dashlane is a standalone software used in the side of your browsers and lastpass is an extension. Dashlane use a patented security architecture with a 256-bit AES encryption and lastpass "just" an 256-bit AES encryption who is off course completely sufficient
