Data breach FUCK - Defeat - 12-22-2019 Chrome has been sending me a data breach alert for the past few days and I thought it was some bs. Never been a victim of a data breach with one of my serious passwords. I finally Google my primary email to find out that I'm actually part of some long-ass list released a few days ago. I literally use this password for most things, it's my go-to. I have about 400 accounts saved on my chrome with this password. I really don't want to go through that list, picking and choosing what to change and what's to be left alone. Are there any alternatives, to perhaps getting the list taken down? That List probably would never be taken down but stored on someone's computer somewhere. Not for my emails, bank accounts, etc. Opened up the list to find it's only a portion of that password so all good lol. But still, I hate thar my email is just chilling like that(12-22-2019, 07:30 AM)Strait McCool Wrote: Chrome has been sending me a data breach alert for the past few days and I thought it was some bs. RE: Data breach FUCK - Dismas - 12-22-2019 Re-using passwords is a really bad habit that you should abandon. If you use the same password for everything, it only takes one breach for your other accounts to be compromised. After obtaining his password, I tested It against all major websites (Amazon, eBay, Gmail, Yahoo, Facebook etc), and found that It was used on over 95% of the sites. Of course, this was strictly for testing purposes. Password reuse Is a commonality, which Is very bad practice. In fact, passwords should not be used to begin with, but rather (where accepted) "passphrases" or as I like to call It, a "pass sentence". For Instance, something that's so easy to remember such as "I love going to the movies on Friday nights". Due to It's length, random phrase and particularly the number of spaces, It's extremely secure and literally next to Impossible to bruteforce. If it weren't for my more important logins required more complex passwords, they too would probably be the same. I think it's time I get a place to store all my passwords other than Chrome, although it was useful in alerting me about the breach. RE: Data breach FUCK - hacxx - 12-22-2019 What is the name of the breach? Post news link.
