Perfectly fine, I just wanted to make sure this was made aware of. Rather put out a community alert than not say anything.

Going by the Image, this was a PayPal transaction and as such, there's a lot more to lose than money. The recipient will have your email address and (unless It's a business account), the name on the account when the transaction was performed. An Identity can be built from the ground up with only an email address, let alone everything else.

As @"Skullmeat" mentioned. this Is a lesson learnt.

Yes, Paypal transaction, but with a business account. Not too worried about that.

Again, did not expect compensation or him receiving repercussions because of this. I realize the way I took this deal was very stupid and I lost money as a result of not thinking. I just hope no one else gets scammed in the future.

The discord was deleted shortly after me and a couple others sent him money for "SEs".

Just for some context. I saw a few mentions of this scam in another thread and made recommendations to use on-site communications for future. The OP is aware of all this and made this scam report on my recommendation. While it is unlikely anything can be done, it does mean users are aware. It would nice if other users could also learn from the experiences of other members.

Thanks, this is why I made the thread.

It was sent as F&F and last time I tried to charge something back that was F&F they denied it. Not worth the headache for $15.

Honestly, I'm not even mildly surprised. Vux constantly posted and pushed for his Discord server in a series of LQ posts whilst the server itself was nothing but @here/@everyone spams from clearly unverified/extremely fresh Discord accounts. It always seemed sketch, though at first I just assumed it was poorly built.

It seems like the Discord has been deleted? I was in it and now that I check my server list, I'm not. Remember to only do dealings with people who have a clear reputation or a long-lasting presence on the site. That last bit is the most important: If you're making a deal with another user on Sinister.ly, there is absolutely no valid reason that it HAS to occur anywhere else but the site itself. If they try to drag you away, for example to a Discord server, it's because they want you outside of a jurisdiction that can come out to bite them.

Also, always try to find people you trust who can vouch for other people. As far as I know, Vux was just some person who stumbled on the scene recently with no one paying any real attention to him, let alone trusting him.

Thanks for telling us though, since suspicions mean squat until something actually blows up and someone blows the whistle about it.

I have another question: Where was this discord shared? Did you begin to make contact through SL/SLs discord - or was this all external? I'd like to make sure they weren't advertising that discord anywhere on this forum.

Was advertised in the "Free gift cards (own method)" thread, that was where you told me to make the DD.

Given the transaction was performed outside the confines of this board and It's associations, there's nothing we can do to solidify your claim.

On behalf of this board, I'm sorry It's come to this but take It as a positive when performing future transactions- you're now aware of safe practices.
