What a random, @vuxane scammed out for a measly $15 cuz he's a broke boy.
He made a discord group of people from this forum to discuss social engineering, was a nice group of people. He was offering to SE the $200 Fitbit model for $15.


He refused to have me do goods and services and did not want to do 50/50 so I just sent it all first. Figured $15 was nothing and no one would be low enough to scam for such a low amount but I guess I was wrong.

Was this on the SL discord? Please clarify where you setup this transaction.

This deal was setup in DM's I can tell by the first picture.

@"J90" I hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure that almost nothing can be done because there is no legit way for staff to confirm the scam simply because you did this transaction over Discord. As stated by @"Dismas" in this thread, "Verify logs from 3rd party software, such as Discord, XMPP, or Skype." You really should have been more careful with this. Sorry that this happened to you bro!
Edit: I seen that FunkyG said something about how vuxane possibly scammed another user, if it is true, and if he has gotten in trouble with staff, then maybe something can be done, but I'm not too sure.

@Synthx is correct. We cannot verify logs from off-site. There have been multiple posts about this, both on SL and discord. There is nothing we can do. Let this be a lesson to you and be more careful about how and where you do business next time.

For future reference, avoid dealing with those unbeknown to you, namely members you've never dealt with nor heard of In the cyber world.

Going by the Image, this was a PayPal transaction and as such, there's a lot more to lose than money. The recipient will have your email address and (unless It's a business account), the name on the account when the transaction was performed. An Identity can be built from the ground up with only an email address, let alone everything else.

As @"Skullmeat" mentioned. this Is a lesson learnt.

If i am not mistaken the server was clsed. It may have been possible that the owners discord account was terminated. I'm not in it anymore and i checked by going and checking mutual servers on members i talked with on that server.

Just for some context. I saw a few mentions of this scam in another thread and made recommendations to use on-site communications for future. The OP is aware of all this and made this scam report on my recommendation. While it is unlikely anything can be done, it does mean users are aware. It would nice if other users could also learn from the experiences of other members.
