(04-18-2020, 12:00 AM)LawDogUSA Wrote: Brother, just reading your initial post, do you realize how incredible you are?  Man, you posess some excellent skills.  There are some unique individuals on here, and you are one of them.  Sometimes in life we have to step out of ourselves and look at us.  I know you said you don't like yourself, even though I think there's much to like and be happy about.  I think most of us can look at ourselves and not like a lot or something.  There's nothing wrong with that, it's how we change, get better, grow, or just self analyze.

Now on to your doctor.  Does that doctor help you?  Do you feel better after speaking with them?  It's important to find a mental health professional you are extremely comfortable with.  It may take time to find someone.

And meds, it may be important to have a psychiatrist instead of a psychologist.  The meds these days are awesome once you get dialed in.  There's no shame in that.
Sounds like you're going to get ahold of your doctor.  They can still help during this time and there's always other ways.

And props to you.  You are able to identify and speak about the things that are on your mind.  You are helping your own mental health.  Your self help is outstanding.  You use your mind a lot in what you do and like to do.  You may need a break, adjustment, or rest.  With what's going on, it may be you are using your mind more or "harder" than normal cause we are isolated.  Rest that excellent mind of yours, and get some help from your doc.  We are in a very unique situation.

People/society don't understand how important mental health is.  It's changing, and society will get there.  But who gives a rats ass about society, we have to take care of ourselves.  We are the ones who do it and have to deal with it.

You are doing an excellent job.  I think most people will tell you that they have 1 or 2 serious friends.  But even then certain situations can make them shut their doors on you.  It's hard.  But look at the response you got on here.  It's great advice, true advice and the people here care.  Very hard to find that in the outside world, if at all.  This is a great place, and I know you know this.

Sorry for the rant.  I really do care bro, people here care too.  PM me if you need anything.  I do have a psy. degree, but used it in a different career.  Anything I can do, let me know.

And props to all the great responses/posts.

I don't know why, but I laughed my ass off picturing "Mothered" going clubing and dancing.  I would have paid to see that.  Sorry, just picture you glued to a computer.  For all I know you have as much rythm as you do computer skills.

With much love and respect,

G
thanks for your post ^D^

i do feel confortanble with my doctor, she & some of my friends recommends to take meds, however, i really don't think that it is going to help and don't really know about them. to forget about my current mental state, i just do what i like, which is coding or just playing some games, but it will always comeback to me, being why i normally have breakdowns while making content at all, im not forcing myself, it is just because i just think about the past and what i did.

i don't really get involved with society, if people are trying to make me involve in it, i'd just be extremely toxic and not caring about anyone until they stop wanting me to be involved (ik im a dickhead). I also don't forget and do remember things, thats why i don't forgive older friends who fucked me over, until they actually have a proper appology, i won't give another chance, even years after.

i have a few serious friends, then the others im just a dickhead (again), i don't laugh at jokes/memes they
send me etc...

Are you taking meds?

If not, they can significantly help with your condition.
i don't take meds

Perhaps you should.

I have a lot of friends, past and present, who have depression and are managing exceptionally well with medication.
You've got nothing to lose and should they work, everything to gain.

Meds fucked up my mind man, meds are created to make you feel WORSE so you stay addicted to them!

Man feels sad
Gets meds
meds make him feel worse
So He takes more meds, stronger meds.
meds make him feel ever number/worse
Cycle goes on.

If you listen to the Meds commercials, listen to them say 'may increase risk of suicide' Thats because the meds make you APATHETIC/Not care, they dont fix anything!

The Antidepressant industry's business model is to numb people and make them worse so they have lifetime customers!

It numbs people out so they dont feel anything, and makes them more depressed so they keep on buying meds! Dont do it man. keep your mind natural.

If you want to be healthy, just excercise man.

It depends on the type of medication and dosage.

For Instance, Xanax/Alprazolam/Kalma (for anxiety) Is highly addictive and when taken In high doses, can do more harm than good. The same applies to OxyContin.

On the other hand, antidepressants such as Mirtazapine/AXIT, Venlafaxine and Zoloft are quite the contrary- easy to manage, and minimal side effects when deciding to stop taking them. In fact the former (Mirtazapine), has zero side effects when stopping abruptly- based a on 90 mg per day prescription.

"ZOLOFT and other antidepressant medicines may increase suicidal thoughts or actions i"

Thats ^ the exact opposite of the reason people take it.

I just don't trust anything manmade man to put into my body.

So you wouldn't trust "general anesthesia" In preparation for a life-saving operation?

Each to their own.

i dont hate the meds that are available, its just that i dont know enough about them to be sure which one to take, i can ask people to tell me which one i should take and the dose, however, i would rather try other things such as new hobies before trying meds. this is kinda why i havent been on my computer much (and also cus i had to reset windows lol)

People have different opiniona about meds, there is some meds that are more efficient for some people and other people might take another med to make them feel better. i think that if you dose it properly, you shoudn't have too much problem. Addiction is also a problem and people need to try controlling themselves when they're addicted to something (like, dont eat cheetos the whole day for example).

The meds are stereotyped. You can't say that they are addictive or lead to taking more meds. I agree with "Mothered" there is absolutely nothing for you to loose bro. Getting the right ones, and dialed in, can completely change your life.

Those commercials are crap. I know there are a million types out there, but how do you know that the right ones, and right doses, may be miraculous for you. And another thing, it's a myth you have to be on them forever. Maybe they help you deal with the issues, and once you realize that the issues are corrected or overcome, the medicine may not be even necessary anymore. You start training your body, lifestyle, and that brilliant mind of yours, the next thing you know, you are conquering all life's challenges on your own and the issues aren't issues any more cause you know how to handle them on your own.

A huge part of dealing with the mental health in life, is actually learning simple skills like "grounding" and many others. An example for me:. I rotated 12 hour shifts (am & pm)/different time zones, every month changed for over 15 years. My sleep schedule and even my psychological state, was so fucked up when I tried to get back to normal, up during the day and sleep at night. I had no clue how bad I was until I started forgetting memories, and even though I thought I slept, I wasn't, and I would get so bad, I would try to eat and miss my mouth, and not even know it.

I didn't want to admit it, but that's fucked up. A few meds to help, sleep/relax and some mood stabilizers. I started sleeping normal, acting normal, feeling a million times better. Next thing I'm off the meds (have some on hand in case) and normal sleep patterns are trained back and things are good, maybe not perfect, but much better. Nothing wrong with that.

Now, honestly, I have done a lot of crazy things in my career, dealt with some of the most bizzare things, etc. I have been on and off a few meds, I don't care, they made me better. There's all kinds of meds from helping you focus to helping you socialize.

You said one of the best things: you like your doctor. Absolutely fantastic. That's a huge source for your success.

Just to ask, and if you don't want to answer that's cool, what is it that you want to do or like to do that you aren't accomplishing mentally?

You have a doctor, you have some good friends, you like some computer stuff, you like Sinisterly (here), and sounds like you sleep well. How about eating and some exercise. Are you eating a few meals a day, and any simple excerise (like how about walking, throw some headphones on listen to some music or some podcasts on coding, etc). You have all that and you are a ton better than most people. How does your mind feel, does it relax, can you shut it down, does it run always, are you worrying? I know you led towards depression, but if there are reasons, the doc can help with that.

I know it sucks sometimes, I can't even get out of bed sometimes, but you are still doing good in some areas, and it seems you are doing fantastic at coding and being on here. I read your posts, and see a ton of brilliance and dedication. Some days I would be happy just to read my emails.

One more thing:. You are not alone, you are never alone. From what I see there's a lot of people here that care, you have some friends who care, a doctor who cares, sounds like your Father cares, and you got this goofy guy who types to much and puts half the people to sleep, here nicknamed G, who cares. We are all here and will continue to do what we can. So let me know anything you want or if there's more I can do. Stay strong, because you are strong, brilliant, and brave.

We are in this together!

PS:. I sent you a PM too.

You can never say "there's absolutely nothing wrong with taking them", since there are effects for anything you take, even a pack of vitamins. However, some effects are small, and totally manageable, and sometimes the pros simply outweigh the cons. I wouldn't rule medication out. There is a reason these things are prescribed for certain conditions: They work. Remember, even if a doctor recommends medication to you, and you're unsure, you don't have to start taking it immediately. You can always get advice from other professionals if you're unsure.

Speaking of those ads, you don't get them in my country. The first time I saw them in the US, I couldn't stop laughing. They are the most pointless adverts I've ever seen.

i don't understand why making ads for meds, theres nothing to promote the product, you can't really show any stats on screen for example because it is different on everyone.
i just want to be better as a person & less toxic, i also just want to enjoy my life again, leaving that routine of doing nothing on the weekends and going school during the week (not anymore due to the pandemic currently going on)
my sleeping schedule is currently messed up (basically is flipped around lol) due to me staying at home 24/7, however, i can easily go back to my normal sleeping schedule.
