Have only trained in a couple of gyms but never found a place where 90% of the people is antisocial. :p More the opposite, especially in Indonesia but that's probably because I 'm blonde and way taller than the average indo. Did have a good laugh at those personal trainers there. One was demonstrating a biceps curl using elastic ropes, instead what he did was holding his arms in the same position while moving back and forth with his upperbody. Those people actually get paid well.

You are either in some kind of ghetto gym or it may just seem like it. Alot of times people don't know where to stare. Actually fat people in the gym will get alot of respect for trying to make a change.

I agree, Serious people (Like @bluedog.tar.gz that are really into going to the gym(Amateur body-builders and stuff) are often really nice and are really good for giving you motivation if you talk to them. I've had people stare at me for lifting light weights, they don't really care though.

Don't be afraid of going to the gym. At first you'll be shit at most stuff, Hell, I still suck at lifting weights because of my surgery and can hardly handle 3x20 5kg of Dumbbell Presses. You got to start somewhere.
