I figured I would create the first thread within the Artificial Intelligence section. AI has been growing rapidly and is being introduced to many different industries worldwide. I have been learning AI workflows, LLMs and agentic agents for the past 2 years consistently and I have used to it create some high impact systems for work.

Here are a couple of projects I have completed.

1. Data Analytics Dashboard using React.
This dashboard tracks over 100 million dollars in revenue and connects in with many different business systems and forecasts out revenue projections based on the General Ledger, 3 years of accumulated data, pending contract changes, and our CRM tool. It uses Azure SQL as a backend database that uses various different API connections to sync data nightly.

2. Deep Analysis on Azure Servers, and Ransomware Recovery
I had a client get hit with Ransomware, This specific client used Microsoft Azure to host servers, SonicWall Firewalls for corporate firewall. I have a agent that i trained to use Azure CLI to scan the VM's to identify in the system logs which credentials were utilized to encrypt the ransomware on the server. It successfully identified the exposed credential, then I used it to connect to the firewall. This specific client had outdated firmware on a firewall which was compromised through remote code execution to create an elevated credential on the firewall and gain a foothole on the network. Once I patched the systems and completed damage control I was able to restore to a backup prior to the incident and ensure that backup was not compromised.

I have a few other very nice use cases.

I primarily use Claude, and GPT. It really depends on what im working on. Right now the newest verstion of GPT 6 Astra is probably the best model out right now for cost, speed and capability.

That ransomware recovery use case is actually pretty interesting. Using an agent with Azure CLI to trace the compromised credentials and figure out how they got in is a really good example of AI going beyond just being a chatbot. The dashboard sounds crazy too, especially combining 3 years of data, GL, CRM and revenue forecasting.

I’ve been getting more into LLM architecture, RAG, MoE, tool calling and agentic AI lately. Definitely interested in seeing some of your other use cases.

AI was actually used for certain aspects of the site's relaunch, including template edits and certain tedious operations. Even with ~15 years of experience using MyBB, I am not a full-time PHP developer.

Codex turned a multi-week project into just a few days. There's obviously some things you absolutely do not let AI handle... For example, I'd never trust it with user data or security-specific features. However, it was amazing for diff-checking core file changes across versions, and consolidating changes that MyBB made over the years. It was also great at identifying deprecated PHP, as the forum was originally for PHP 6-7.

I was originally quoted by an older MyBB developer roughly ~$350 (a very fair quote) to update the site. This included updating 30-40 plugins and updating the board from MyBB 1.8.26 all the way to 1.8.40. Rather than pay the developer (and risking data exposure), I ended up doing the work myself in less than 3-4 days.

Yes, prior to AI. A project like this would have costed us around $120,000+ and a team of engineers.

I built a AI Agentic RAG agent as well that pulls company SOP's and procedures straight from sharepoint. its pretty neat. AI is scaling fast.

Yes, AI is a force multiplier, especially if you know what you are doing. Its also an extremely great tool for learning, and learning fast!!

Im extremely careful when dealing with sensitive data. I never create API tokens that will allow an AI agent to write / update / modify to a database.

I will usually build an entirely separate database to clone the data and leave the production data alone, and then work exclusively on the cloned DB.

Im a bit skeptical with AI usage in some areas, but I dont think AI will ever go anywhere.

In hindsight, the $350 quote was extremely fair. I just chose to pay with my time instead. Less about money and more that certain elements of the site needed to remain private. That said, there's plenty of limitations and I'd imagine if someone was attempting the same re-launch without the same knowledge of MyBB, the outcome would be pretty terrible. Great tool if you have a solid understanding of what you're modifying/updating, potentially catastrophic if you don't.

I like describing it as a "force multiplier" as well. It still requires input from someone knowledgeable and can still make plenty of mistakes.

This is what I did personally. I used a "dummy" copy of the database, with certain MyBB tables anonymized/wiped.
