I have the same problem unfortunately, I tried many remedies but unfortunately none worked (never tried medicines). For now I've come to terms with it.

I play podcasts of people with soothing voices that tell stories and I'm usually asleep after a bit

I read this guide on how soldiers sleep and how their commander or whatever trained his guys to get some shut-eye. I can fall asleep in 5 minutes now.
So, you think of a completely peaceful, blissful, bpm-dropping scenario you can think of, think, laying on your lover's thighs as s/he caresses your hair and whispers sweet lullabies.
About 2 - 3 minutes of completely immersing yourself in this 'dreamscape'.
Once lax, plunge yourself into a black hole, complete blackness, even better if you can orient yourself so you see yourself falling deeper into infinite darkness. Focus on nothing but nothingness—no sound, weight, feeling or anything. Bonus if you imagine yourself sitting on the edge of the black hole, and as if you're ready to sleep, fall inside.
Guarantee you won't even know you're asleep. You'll just wake up and be like, "damn, that worked".
If you're consistent, it gets beneficial.

I drink everyday 3-4g of melatonin, and all the time go sleep same time, not drink water before sleep
