Usually I'll use Fraps, but sometimes HyperCam.

Camtasia would be mine. Easy to use, with a whole bunch of features built in. Screen capture, audio recording, video editing, special effects, etc.

Hypercam is easy to use and noob friendly, Camastia is probably the best though because of all its features.

I have to agree with Cyber. Hypercam is free and really easy to use. Even has hotkeys you can use to start/stop recording at any time.

I would say Camtasia is the best one I've tried.
Easy to use, and support a lot of cameras & microphones if needed (does not support all, I think).

If I am recording pc gameplay fraps.
for anything else I use camtasia.

I would recommend Bandicam. I have been using it for a long time. Approx. 6 months.
