Camtasia studios and its recorder seem to work best for me

For games I use either Bandicam (with a custom codec setup) or fraps.
I use Camtasia Studio for other stuff.

I have a setup on my recording software.
I use Camtasia for Desktop recordings (Hacking tuts or someshit).
And I use Fraps for PC Gaming. (Even though my PC sucks so bad, I have to turn everything else off, and remove anything from taskmanager that takes alot of CPU... >_>)

It depends, I use Fraps for game recording, And camtesia for Screen recoreding.
