Transcendence - Did you watch the movie yet ? #1
So, its a very straight forward question and the title of the thread makes it clear. So what do you think about the movie ?

Its a must watch movie for all IT an CS guys and everyone who loves computers and CS stuffs.

Well Johnny Depp and Rebecca Hall were awesome. More than him I liked the concept a lot. I would support his idea whole heartedly. If I am given a chance to live like that I would certainly live like.

I don't find it ugly, and fearing anything, it not like what was themed in Terminator series. The main character Will was actually trying to save everyone and mother earth as well and so whats the harm.

I named my very own AI system software (Currently working with its development) as J.A.R.V.I.S, yes it was named after the JARVIS from the movie IronMan but I am going to rename it to P.I.N.N. (Physically Independent Neural Network)

I watched the movie and it was awesome. As you said, perhaps because we like Computer Science. But it's not only about the science in the movie, it's showing what science can do, to people who might not understand it that much.
Unfortuneatly, those people do not support Will's idea and find it creepy. But I'd do chose the same if I was in the situation like him (I dont want to spoil stuff, so those who watched, know what I mean).

I always say to myself: If the idea exists, there must be a way to implement it!

..they gave us an idea Wink

@Ligeti I said that because I really loved the idea and I kind of hope that we are progressing to a new world. The movies shows human imagination and if you can imagine something there must be some way to fulfill it. There is no limit to the bounds of AI Biggrin

No I didn't watch the movie PI, actually never heard of it as well but will be watching today in the evening.

It doesn't take an IT or Computer person to like this, It's just another Si-Fi movie.
If you want to watch a real movie that has to do with IT or Computers, check these out :

Enemy of the State (1998) : It's a movie about a lawyer (Played by Will Simth) who discovers evidence of a corrupt politician who then sends his NSA goons to track him down and get rid of him. This movie is about NSA surveillance and how it seems trivial to us, but they can use it against us in so many ways whenever they want. This movie was way ahead of It's time.

The Social Network (2010) : The story of how Mark Zuckerberg started Facebook (The Facebook, as it was called back then). Before watching this movie, I had no Idea that he was a hacker, or that he could code in Pearl. 8/10 This movie was awesome. Though I'm pretty sure most of us have already seen it.

Hackers (1995) : A young boy is arrested by the US Secret Service for writing a computer virus and is banned from using a computer until his 18th birthday. Years later, he and his new-found friends discover a plot to unleash a dangerous computer virus, but they must use their computer skills to find the evidence while being pursued by the Secret Service and the evil computer genius behind the virus. (I took this part from IMDB)
This movie isn't very accurate, but It's still very enjoyable if you're into Tech, Hacking or Social Engineering. A must watch! Oh, and it has Angelina Jolie, so there's that.

What a piece of crap...

If the movie wasn't stupid enough I would've said that it was insulting and humiliating!

I mean come on... you call these hackers.

@Ligeti
Back in the days they thought that rediculous clothing makes you look like a hacker probably.

Now about the topic...i watched the movie i don't think that this is a MUST see for IT and CS lovers...but i think that it was a nice and some "revolutionary".

I also love Rebecca Hall, her natural beauty is infinite.

Like I said, It's not a very accurate movie, but when you watch this, It's not their clothing you should focus on.

Although, they do look retarded when you put it that way lol :epic:

Revolution Os:
While Microsoft may be the biggest software company in the world, not every computer user is a fan of their products, or their way of doing business. While Microsoft's Windows became the most widely used operating system for personal computers in the world, many experts took issue with Microsoft's strict policies regarding licensing, ownership, distribution, and alteration of their software. The objections of many high-profile technology experts, most notably Richard Stallman, led to what has become known as "the Open Source Movement," which is centered on the belief that computer software should be free both in the economic and intellectual senses of the word. Eventually, one of Stallman's admirers, Linus Torvalds, created a new operating system called Linux, a freely distributed software which many programmers consider to be markedly superior to Windows. Revolution OS is a documentary that examines the genesis of the Open Source Movement, and explores and explains the technical and intellectual issues involved in a manner understandable to computer aficionados and non-techheads alike.

The Italian Job:
After being betrayed and left for dead in Italy, Charlie Croker and his team plan an elaborate gold heist against their former ally.
