I am not surprised at all... Google are not the first to test/experiment this, and I am not impressed to hear about this nowadays, if you have money anything (technically speaking) is possible!

As the resident and all powerful Blind Hermit of this forum I consider myself a bit of an expert on all things blind and self driving.

Self driving cars= good but you know someone on these forums is going to try and hack into their OS Tongue (cough cough) and well I can't wait to see what happens then... (Terminator?)

By the way did you know there are cars that blind people can drive now (they only cost $80k). I've had the pleasure to drive one actually...

I'm interested in how this works, I mean what systems are in place to allow you to know what's around you? my main concern would be other road users suddenly pulling out of a junction in front of you how would you know they are approaching at a speed where they can't stop so you can prepare to slow down/swerve to avoid an accident?
If you need help feel free to PM me

Well the gloves have vibrators and sensors (yes make your joke now)
The seat has vibration pads in it (again joke here)
Each vibration means something like the vibration in the tip of your left index finger means to turn left slightly while i vibration in your left index finger (the entire finger) means quick sharp left turn. The systems run off a small super computer in the back (the car is $100k+) which has sensors all over the car taking infrared mappings of the street and objects around you. It also links directly in to GPS and emergency systems and uses the same quick stop accident technology.

If this where to ever get past the experimental stage there would undoubtedly be a standard to which all cars are made so that they can communicate with each other.

I remember reading about this a couple of years ago and iirc they use a combination of sonar magnets camera's and gps so they can effectively "see" what's around them and make decisions from there.
