This thread is for all members, but mostly to the members who might've seen a thread that offered a free VPN service.

If you were one of the few members who replied to that thread and actually downloaded the file, use caution and restore your PC. The file was infected.

You have been warned.

P.S.: You are not infected unless you allow the program to run. If someone uploads something that you are interested in, please wait for a professional to verify that it is a legitimate link before downloading.

It's a piece of shit and doesn't boot properly. I could've sandboxed the file but I need to reactivate my AV.

I could already tell when I clicked to open it and nothing happened. I'm used to cleaning my PC from this type of activity, but I wanted to let the others know because I know some others downloaded it, and most likely opened it.

Restoring your PC does noting but set your registry files and settings to a certain state that it was previously. It does not rid your PC of infection even if the symptoms appear to be gone.

Yes it does. If you were to restore to factory settings, it would be gone.
