No it does not you have to clear your partitioms if it's a large infectiom. If it's a small one just get hitman pro and malware bytes and scan your pc.

Do you know what a system restore is?

Clears the computer completely, so it's pretty much brand new.

No to be brand new you have to clear the partition and reinstall the OS :omg:
Infections can stay after a factory reset.

It wipes everything on your hard drive, so I guess it won't be necessary.

No. If it did then your OS would be gone also, it is not as thorough as deleting the partition. Using a special boot disc to clear the partition over multiple times is even better.

That's not what a System Restore does. That's what dban does.

Wiping everything on your hard drive would include the essential files necessary for the machine to boot and the operating system in and of itself.

It doesn't rid infections. Rootkits have a habit of staying closely attached after system restores. Although, you really shouldn't rely on a system restore for infections.

I guess I should have used different words, then.

You should do some research on rootkits.
Also, system restore doesn't delete everything, if it did, you wouldn't have windows on the HDD anymore. <_ <

I used to download viruses all the time Instead of restoring it I would just format my HDD to make sure they are gone.
