but how the fuck is there an entire page of responses before someone points out the most obvious first step to debugging this issue??

Well tell me then how to open that port if it's closed.

Use google, "how to open a port for a application".
optional you could add your server os too it to get the right results Smile

FTP has to be installed and running on your server before you try to connect to it via FileZilla.

Is it your server?

Yes: Read the man page/docs for the FTP service you're using. There is no one solution for every piece of software.

No: You're a fucking idiot.

So I can't connect to the one I need....

How to I check in firewall btw?

My apologies, I was under the assumption your Issue was taken care of.

With the firewall, rather than allowing exceptions (for FileZilla), configuring Inbound & Outbound rules etc, try disabling It altogether. I'm just trying to establish whether It Is In fact your firewall that's blocking FileZilla's failure to authenticate with other servers. Also, are you running via a VPN or Proxy? If so, don't. See what happens thereafter.

1. Stop being so angry.

2. We assume that if someone is that into technology that they join a site like Sinister.ly that they would have the common sense to do this before even remotely posting here.

1. I think you're projecting.

2. Never, ever, assume someone asking for help has any common sense whatsoever. You'll waste a whole lot more time if you assume the obvious, cause most of the time, the answer is pretty fucking obvious.

1. Why would I be projecting when it's obvious you're angry by swearing ? o.O

2. Correct, it's a shame that even here we have to assume they're an idiot.
