I will give this a try when i get back home.

Try to use this command ipconfig /all... then look trough the information for default gateway and that should be the ip address you need put it in a browser or in run(\\192.168.1.1) then you should get your router interface depending on if it's pass-worded then you can go a second step by looking up default user names and passwords for routers just in-case your gf set it up with the default

I've tried all the ipod addresses in ipconfig they either dont load or bring me to an avg search page. All the info I've seen using Google says you need a wired connection so Im not sure if that's the issue.

first of all be sure about the ROUTER's IP (gateway).you can use ipconfig/all or nmap or ather network tool to confirm. then try to access the router . sometimes antivirus may cause the problem.check it carefully. I hope you can find the way.
