give it up then,
Addiction's not quite that simple. Taking up his time will help but it's not addressing the root issue. When he's laid off work, unable to do those activities, he'll resort to what he likes best.

give it up then, go be more physically active, go to the gym, do a sport maybe? And whenever you feel like masturbating go do pushups, it really helps.
I try I have a part time job after school but can always get it in before bed

for me, being more physically active and getting more p*ssy helped. try to have sex more often?
if sex isn't a solution, 1st step is to eliminate porn, go masturbate without it, then cut down the monthly masturbation, from like 1 a day(30 a month) to for example 20 a month, and keep decreasing it, it's not nofap here, sometimes i still do it but without porn. Porn is killing your brain and dopamine, meanwhile 2-3 masturbations per month is okay in my opinion Smile.

Addiction really is that simple. I'm not going to share much about myself but i've quit some pretty addictive things.
It's all about willpower and occupying your time with something else, more beneficial.
His problem in my opinion is porn, not masturbation, so he can easily cut out porn with a little bit of willpower and bust one out.

I feel you, it is hard but not impossible, i believe in you.
You could cut it out and replace that activity with other dopamine releasing ones.
as i said, 1st step is to cut porn completely, cold turkey. And if you can't masturbate without it don't do it, give it a couple days and the hornyness will kick in.
As a man, controlling your sexual urges is very important. It's very hard tho, but you can do it
