From 3-4 hours a day reduced to only 20-30 minutes a day unless I'm chating with a friend for something important only.

The hardest part can be the first hurdle: Turning off the notifications/uninstalling. The "fear of missing out" can be extreme. However, after a week, you realise you're not missing out on anything of any real substance. The silly social media drama, is just that, a bit of drama. It will be forgotten about before long.

For me, most of my facebook connections were school friends. As we finished high school, we spent less time on social media, and more time on more important projects. It was much more full-filling to spend time working on something that would help me progress in life, than waiting for responses to a picture or comment I'd posted.

Also, these platforms are designed with AI and algorithms that show you content (via news feed, ads, next play videos) to keep you hooked. I noticed something incredibly creepy. I'd stopped using Facebook for several months to a year. I didn't get one notification except a birthday reminder. Then, a family member asked me to check something out on there, and my notifications started blowing up. I hadn't changed a single setting. It's Facebook's systems designed to encourage you to come back to the app via various notifications.

Long story short: Be like Kurd - Turn off the damn notifications. They are your worst enemy.

That's one reason why I've never In all my computing years, shared any type of personal Information online.

Even when accounts are deleted, anyone could've copied/downloaded your Info beforehand, which can be redistributed at any time by someone with malicious Intent.

Actually, I may have told this story already, but this is so true. I once posted a digital drawing of a character online. A family member, about 10 years later, told me that an online friend of theirs had sent them a picture of a character that they thought looked like my family member... Low and behold - It was my drawing. Somehow it had circled the internet without any credit to the account I originally posted it on, and made it's way back to me.

i have noticed that those who don't spend much time on laptop/pc mean rarely use there pc ,they are mostly on insta , fb etc....

That's truly amazing.

It clearly demonstrates that you have no control of the data you post online. The moment you hit the send button, It's In the hands of the unknown.

Actually, there are some young people who are like that. They'll use their mobiles or a tablet at most, which definitely appears to cater to social media apps xD

Thankfully this was a nicer story example.

I was thinking about leaving social media many times. It's just a waste of time. But the thing is that I am probably addicted to social media... Biggrin

Start small. Turn off your notifications. See what happens.

Given you've realized It's a waste of time, you wouldn't be addicted to social media per se.

It's probably become habitual, hence you're finding It difficult to break away from your actions more than anything else.

Like a medal, there are two sides to it. One of them is light, which comes to understand actions, and the other is dark, which condemns and constantly scolds for all attempts to remain free. Everyone has their own opinion on this and this is quite normal

It's difficult, there should be a measure in everything
