If you need to turn in a digital project, one of the oldest tricks is to make the code crash by opening the Word file on Notepad and deleting a part of the code.
There are even websites dedicated on corrupting your Word Documents to make them un-openable.
Since teachers usually don't know much about computers you can simple add in any possible excuse on why it got bugged like ''Maybe the versions are not compatible'' or ''Maybe it didn't save probebly'' or ''I didn't pull out the USB safely''
Not really sure on how it works in college but it's saved my arse multiple times in high school.
