This is a really good point! I'll often put on a streamer while tabbed over to do some artwork or a game. It's good background noise even if I'm not really watching everything. You still feel like part of a conversation. However, twitch is a bit like a conversation you can leave and rejoin without it being considered socially "rude" xD

Yeah exactly, you don't have to watch the entire stream and just pop in-and-out whenever you can. With a podcast for example i generally want follow the conversation more which is kinda distracting

I feel the same with a podcast! I'm forever rewinding them to hear the funny/interesting bit I just missed.

Initially, it wasn't something I was ever interested in using. Over time I've found its a great place to meet up with people and play games. I don't use it as often anymore, but I still visit occasionally and moderate for my friends.

I simply don't understand it myself. I know why it's popular, but I can't sit there and watch someone else play a game for hours. Even if it was someone I found hilarious, I find it tiresome quickly. Maybe I'm old.

It's a shame, I'd like to be excited about it but I can't push myself into it for too long. I suppose though due to being not massively into gaming myself, it's harder to find it motivating. I enjoy people live streaming their hacks or builds, that's always fun.
