Yeah, but let's be honest... you have to be a class-A retard to get rooted with grsec.

I use Malewarebytes on everything and couple it with either Avast, Kaspersky, or Norton.
I personally prefer Kaspersky.
I also use adblock plus on all my browsers and find that warning have dropped as a result.

The little dotted line in the link below is where Microsoft Security Essentials resides.

I use Bitdefender 2014 which is quite nice with Windows 8.1. I would say there is a bit of a performance overhead, but I don't have the most outstanding PC either. I'm actually more interested in the most common vulnerabilities that are exploited, I have a new interest in Antivirus Security and how it is implemented. Any sources would be appreciated.

Everyone who said Malwarebytes are just plainly wrong.
As for Microsoft Security Essentials, this product is barely up to date and cannot compete with other free Antiviruses.
Bitdefender products are just too buggy.
AVG is big plain technical shitware that crashes your Windows and bloat it.
McAfee and Norton : no need to mention what's wrong with these, it's been obvious for years.

Only free Antiviruses worth using : avast!, Avira, Qihoo, Panda and Comodo.
Only paid Antiviruses worth buying : Kaspersky and ESET products.

That's it.

Qihoo 360 has annoying reputation-based stuff much like Norton/Symantec. Not worth the extra "protection".

Still better than relying on AVG, McAfee, Norton, etc. if you ask me, plus it have some top notch detection ratio, reputation-based or not.
However fuck 360 TS, no one needs a "PC Tune Up" Antivirus.
