Guess it's not so obvious then. Anyway, to be honest I think a lot of hacked ROMs of Pokémon and Visual Novels like Steins;Gate have better story lines than console games mostly because the game is developed purely for the story experience.

Other than that though, I'm about halfway through Condemned and it's pretty interesting so far. Singularity is a good one also, but out of the more popular games, I'd say Fallout 3.

In my personal opinion it would have to be Assassins Creed Smile

Are hacked Pokemon ROMS any better than the developer's version? Anything in specific that makes it better? Or is just because it's a unique experience.

You're talking about customs games, not the ROMs of the regular ones right? The ROM is no different from the actual cartridge if it's the same game.

I think the only reason actual games are better because they're the original versions and the developers came up with everything while the people who made their own games off of it simply changed the code.

I wouldn't say it's only because it's a unique experience but that's mainly it. Other than that, the community really knows how to write a good storyline and their only limits are ideas that can't be imported to Pokémon in any way.

For example, I could modify Fire Red to where all of the trainer dialogue is posts from Discussion Zone, edit the starters to any 1-3 Pokémon and others would be able to play it almost like any other game. The only "catch" with these games though is that they'd have to be run on an emulator unless you're really experienced in ROM hacking.

Yeah, I was also referring to the hacked Pokemon games, not just the roms of the regular ones. I just finished Black and White, are there any hacked versions of that yet? Or do you have any one in particular that's well done and worth the look?

I personally like Snakewood, Apollo, and Light Platinum. The Ruby Guardians series is very unique and I'd recommend that too.
