I don't usually download stupid stuff, but i've had a few sticky moments to where i thought my skype deob may have had some type of infection binded to it, i honestly really like 'SuperAntiSpyware' or malwarebytes, you can get a professional trial of superantispyware for free of there site, with a couple modifications to the advanced scan settings it seems to be actually decent

This thread Is around 30 months old. Nonetheless, since It's still recently active, I shall contribute my thoughts.
In my views, there Is no "best". There's "better", but no best. What one AV does not detect, another will and vice-versa. You just need to evaluate your day-to-day computational tasks and select the AV accordingly.
I use Norton IS, and It's detection rate Is very Impressive and very light on system resources. Back In the days of the bloated Norton SystemWorks and when AntiSpam & Firewall were both separate entities, that was a different story. Nowadays, It's tailored for just about all walks of computing usage.

Common sense.
When I used windows I would just do a malwarebytes scan on stuff I did not 100% trust. But I do not really download anything dodgy.

I use ESET Smart Security and Malwarebytes. ESET Smart Security is a very good antivirus, and I have never had a single problem with it.

Kaspersky & ESET NOD 32 are currently the best two at this moment in time, Panda Internet Security is also a good option.
