Basically they want to monitor our traffic

For legit users simply navigating the net, what right do they have to monitor their activity?

They have no right to do it, but if no one is saying anything they can do it, and that's why I'm concerned about. Usually people are ignorant and say that this doesn't matter but from my point of view this is a HUGE invade of your privacy.
There are out there some petitions to cancel this directive but I don't know how much it will affect it unfortunately.
I must say that they can't do this if we disagree with it.
