New EU/ New Internet - Cr3aTor - 09-11-2018 Since in one day the new EU Copyright Directive is voted and article 13/11 may be applied I wanted to ask what do you think about it? https://gizmodo.com/the-end-of-all-thats-good-and-pure-about-the-internet-1826963763 RE: New EU/ New Internet - Boudica - 09-11-2018 I wish I knew more about it. I am slightly out of touch with EU news so will need to read up on it. It might be worth sharing a link to an article about it in case others are also unfamiliar. I didn't want to provide any links because I only found media articles and they are often used to not tell the whole truth but I realized it's ok for a quick read to create a basic idea about the subject. Basically they want to monitor our traffic and if something is posted that can be copyrighted (like an image from a movie) they can drop that. That is possible with the help of ISPs... I think this will affect pretty much the internet and not just those from EU RE: New EU/ New Internet - mothered - 09-11-2018 (09-11-2018, 05:04 AM)Cr3aTor Wrote: Basically they want to monitor our traffic For legit users simply navigating the net, what right do they have to monitor their activity? This Is not targeted at yourself- just generalizing. Upon reading the article, this Is where I stopped: Quote:The End of All That's Good and Pure About the Internet Yes, It's title. Usually people are ignorant and say that this doesn't matter but from my point of view this is a HUGE invade of your privacy. There are out there some petitions to cancel this directive but I don't know how much it will affect it unfortunately. ![]() I must say that they can't do this if we disagree with it. When someone like myself Invades their privacy by compromising their systems, It's frowned upon- they don't like being exposed. But It's perfectly fine for them to do It to others. It's a classic case of "do as I say, not as I do". RE: New EU/ New Internet - darkninja1980 - 09-11-2018 wow that kind of sucks that they trying to control the internet. Obviously they never will take control, but can certainly make It quite difficult for selective sectors.
