You want to go out for dinner to eat Thai food, your girlfriend wants to eat Italian food, somehow you convince her to eat Thai, thats in a way Hacking.
About Hollywood movies its just plain exaggeration to make the movie character more cool.
Coming to the Blackhat and Whitehat division of hackers, Blackhats mostly like to hack people, systems for personal benefit, such as hacking websites, stealing data, money and personal info. Whitehats are the good side and they will usually help you protect a system or a vulnerability. According to the new terms there is also a term called "Grey Hats" who hack only when they need to or when they feel like it.
In a professional environment companies hire "Whitehat Hackers" or "Penetration Testers" to hack or test system for any threats or vulnerability and then secure those.
Coming to the word "Hacks", its generally a term used for a program or script that patches or modifies other program. If you are talking about "Game Hacks" then you are usually talking about a cool unlimited ammo script, a one hit KO megapunch or something else.
So there's no specific term for hacking, it all depends how you think about it and do with it.
Straight forward and to the point well explained.
