I do not see this 7 sins as helpful as you do. See if a person acts on instinct normally comes from a sense of danger (To defend yourself) If you are being attacked you won't stop to think about the 7 deadly sins. You will strike back or just take a defensive and shielding position from the hits. Of course like anything there will always be somebody that tries to command and such so I will give you that one.

Well of course, I agree 100% if your defending yourself, life and death, please defend (or kill if you have to) to your utmost ability, in fact how were made physiology enforces that principal. hah

Not Psychology made. It's how we feel as humans. We are not programmed by somebody outside to defend ourselves. It comes naturally.
