You don't have to go to University in the states... Bearing in mind you won't get the same financial aid that you'll get in the UK. However, to get into a UK University of the standard that you need - well it's going to be a lot harder to find one and get in. The US does have great opportunities when it comes to their Universities. I also know that some of their courses offer an entire year in a workplace. Work Experience woo! xD If you do come to picking a University - Just spend time really going into detail about the pros and cons. Also, remember, you can sometimes transfer if it's not what you want.

Or you could go to Scotland, it's cheaper there...
Or even completely foreign countries like Germany, or one of the nordic states (Sweden, Finland, Norway is WAY too expensive) - Universities are practically free there. In Finland they only charge you for books, and such, not the actual teaching (as far as I know) - a semester costs something like 1000Euros total with books and materials and whatnot. @Uzinero?
