Proudest Achievement - Jiggly - 07-02-2014

Since we have members from all sorts of backgrounds, I was curious to see what you guys would answer...

What is your proudest/best achievement? You can say anything.

Mine: The way I dealt with my parents break up, looking after my lil' bro and dragging myself through high school to Uni. I've been successful in many other things, but this one is most important to me.

P.S. It doesn't have to be serious/sob story-ish. You can say anything. (Inb4 somebody says "Growing pubes" as their achievement...)

RE: Proudest Achievement - DarkMuse - 07-02-2014

I'd have to say still being alive. I used to cut alot more and one night I was very, very close to ending it and I pulled together.

RE: Proudest Achievement - Oni - 07-02-2014

I don't think I've achieved anything that hasn't been achieved before. Therefore, I have nothing to post.

RE: Proudest Achievement - MiS - 07-02-2014

I'm sad to say that I don't really have anything very prideful or an achievement worth sharing about - I'm an underachiever at heart.

RE: Proudest Achievement - Cressi - 07-02-2014

Although it's rather depressing seeing people having achieved nothing, I think most people have something worth striving for.
I'll probably have to agree with you on mine; going through Uni is definitely not the easiest thing I've done ^^

RE: Proudest Achievement - Lain - 07-02-2014

My proudest achievement is getting a career in web development (my dream industry) at nineteen.

Growing Pubes. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

In all seriousness I've never really achieved anything. Everything I've ever come close to achieving I've been fucked out of, gave up on or had to stop because I couldn't afford to finish it. I've came close to achieving a lot and always got screwed up at the last minute somehow. This goes for literally everything but here are some of the biggest examples:

Tried to buy 100,000 bitcoins when they were new for $400 (Was literally in negotiation with a bunch of people wanting to sell all of their BTC). Was convinced they were the future and were going to skyrocket. Didn't have my own bank account and was too young too open one without parents, they didn't understand it so wouldn't let me use my money to do it, despite me practically begging them and them saying I could do what I wanted with my own cash. If I sold those 100k BTC at their peak I would have made around £67 Million and wouldn't be living in this ghetto shithole I've been in since I was born.

When I was in school, I was in the top classes until the end of year 7. In Year 8 they moved me down to the middle classes and I didn't learn anything because I was just redoing all the things I did the year before so I ended up way behing the people in the top class. I had multiple friends in the top classes I compared exam results with, I had the highest of all of them but they were put in the top class instead of me. Didn't find out why until a week before I left the school, turned out they changed the way classes are done in the school, so it depends on where you live and your grades, not just your grades, so even though I had higher grades I was put into the shitty classes because of where I was born.

Left school to do homeschooling because I wasn't learning anything in the lower classes and would buy in the books I needed and teach myself from the books. All of my friends from school just finished their final exams. I'm still far from mine, if I ever reach them. My parents bought me my books for finishing off KS3, but when it came to GCSE they never bought me any books, so I had nothing to learn with. This meant I had around a year of no schooling with my parents bitching at me for not doing any work when they weren't getting me the things I needed to do it, and when I asked them too yelling about how they weren't "Made of money" they've bought me one book so far and still bitch at me for not working a lot, but whenever I bring up needing new books I'm told they're "not made of money" and am constantly yelled at about how I'm "throwing my life away" as if it's my fucking choice to not work when they won't buy the books I need but spend £1000's on new shit for themselves.

Don't mean to be depressing and am probably ranting a bit here, but my life was pretty fucked before it even began. I was born with birth defects that caused me to get singled out and bullied in school, when I went to the teachers about it they started to pick on me too, I've been living in a shitty ghetto area since I was born, and have kept a weapon by my bed since I was 4 years old in case I ever had to kill someone because there's a bus stop outside our house where heroin addicts used to hang out, not to mention we're in the shittiest area of a shitty area, and multiple times have had people try to lockpick our doors. My brother and sister were nice to me only after my Dad left. I have a different Dad to them and the way they always were towards me as a kid has me convinced to this day they hated me since birth just for that. My sister has mental health issues and is suicidal and has a split personality and my mum is a psychotic whore. All I've ever really had was my games as the only release from this fuckhole of a life, and my family wonder why I have maybe one hour maximum a day where I'm not on my computer. Anyway, I'm ranting here and I should probably end this now, but I guess my best achievement so far is resisting the urge every day to jump in front of a train.

I didn't say it had to be something that hasn't been done before. Herp.

I'm glad you pulled it together DarkMuse.

How about having more posts than me despite the fact I've been here for nearly 1.5 years? Wink

What did you study? Smile

I'm impressed. I wish I could get into my dream job at 19 xD (Got a couple months to go until I turn 19 so that's not going to happen for me haha.)

I couldn't even imagine what that would be like...

I may have completed my GCSE's back in 2011 but I got good grades, so if you ever want a hand I'm more than happy to help. Heck, I've probably still got some books somewhere.
What subjects are you studying - out of curiosity?

I'm glad you've kept going though. I didn't know it was legal for them to put you in sets based on where you come from. That's fucked up. I got lucky with my high school education. I went from being the top student of my year group to being "meh average" when I changed schools after year 8. In my case, the only reason that happened was because I joined a grammar school so everyone is smart as fuck there... I was just average of the clever kids. It still knocked my confidence but at least it was a decent reason.
