Their is no "best AV", and another half of you are listing software that isn't an "Anti-Virus".

AM, AV, FW, and Sandboxie are not all classified under AV.

Also, some of you recommend "two" running side by side. That causes conflict. ._.

The "best" AV is your brain. You don't need another one if you can properly use it.

In the case of infection, if you can find the source of infection and manually remove it, then you don't need shitty programs that charge a ridiculous $100 for a year. (Obviously, there are cracks, but that in and of itself is another risk you're taking.) Backdoors are more common than you think.

Also, reverse engineering is your friend when you download sketchy programs from sites such as this one.

There's no "debate". If you think there's a right answer to a seemingly subjective topic, then you're as retarded as the rest of the skiddies on here.

I use Avast right now, Didn't found any thing that's lame with it.
I use MalwareBytes Anti-Malware too.

Avast is lightweight, but it's detection in false positives goes out the roof.

Sorry, it's AV-Test. I chose the free version of AVG because Avast slowed down my system, Avira kept showing popups, and Bitdefender had limited options for removing malware.

To me, there is no best AV. The best AV you can really have is being knowledgeable in not getting a virus on your own. Personally I don't run any AV on my computer since I don't really need it. If you are sure to scan any possibly infected file with VirusTotal and Anubis then you should be good. If by any chance you do get infected, you can most likely remove the infection via OTL, a security tool, or you can most likely just go into safe mode and fix in there. Or you can disconnect yourself from the internet and attempt to fix it like that as the hacker won't have access to your computer anymore.

i will bet you fucking money that you don't know how to use OTL. you probably just went on some forum and saw their malware removal team request OTL logs and you're thinking "i can trick these 9 year olds" into thinking i can use otl.

I used to work at a computer repair shop, and malware bytes, avast, and spybot search and destroy usually cleaned up anything we had come in. Winpatrol is great too, will usually catch anything harmful as soon as it enters my system. CCLeaner does a great anti-dox job and has the added bonus of cleaning your system! Whatever you do don't use anything associated with Comcast or Norton. AVG is good for general web browsing, but don't run it alongside anything else, it conflicts with almost everything I listed.

Currently I use ZoneAlarm, from around one week and it seems to work great. I used Avast before, but it left many viruses undiscovered and let them work.

ZoneAlarm is outdated and is no longer recommended by security researchers.

How do you know if there were many "undiscovered veeruses"? .).

I tend to run with my AV disabled and just sandbox stuff I run, also blocking java in my browser. RIght now I'm running avast, but microsoft security essentials is better.
