I've not read any part of the Bible that claims that believers are saved merely by their beliefs. From what I can recall, the Bible is big on that asking for forgiveness is more important than believing in the traditional way( the beggar women who donated a penny was more of a believer than the others ).

On a more personal note, I tend to believe that if there is a god, he doesn't care about the specifics of your belief system. If you live morally and such, whether you believe in him or not wouldn't be relevant.
