Relegion and the system of judgement - Eclipse - 12-28-2013

Hey guys,

I want to just ask a simple question. It's to do with the 'judgement' after death.

Why does God not judge us humans based on what we do in this world, rather than if we worship him?

It's something that I believe strongly about and this forum is the only real place where I can discuss it as I'm brought up in a religious family.

Post what you think below.

In Christian faiths, one of the core beliefs is the mercy of God. In worshiping him you're( ideally ) asking for forgiveness for your sins.

I never thought about it that way, but god knows what's in our hearts. He knows when we regret something we've done. He knows what we plan on doing. He know what we're thinking. Why does he not judge us based on that rather than how much we believe in him. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we all were just good people that knew we would be rewarded for being good. No racism based on religion. I know its sounds like naive hope but just imagine.

I've not read any part of the Bible that claims that believers are saved merely by their beliefs. From what I can recall, the Bible is big on that asking for forgiveness is more important than believing in the traditional way( the beggar women who donated a penny was more of a believer than the others ).

On a more personal note, I tend to believe that if there is a god, he doesn't care about the specifics of your belief system. If you live morally and such, whether you believe in him or not wouldn't be relevant.

I don't think she's the judgmental type, so I'll just stick to praise. [Image: 3EgDApq.jpg]

I am not a religious person, I do have a theory of religion being upheld and maintained by government. But u also respect people's religious views as my girlfriend is a Christian and believes strongly. (and I'm the complete opposite, how does that work?)

But I do believe that in morals and political correctness. People should want to do good for the role and others around them. I'm not religious but I strongly take to hear the turns "love thy neighbour" and will do so. I forsee every being who has done good on this earth should die happily. Whether they believe they're going to heaven, or they just know they have no guilt or regrets so they can lay happily 6 feet under.

Do good, and you shall receive it back. Disregarding your religion, you should strive to benefit others and yourself. No matter what your beliefs, we're all equal and should be treated that way.

This is what I'm trying to say. Let's just say that there is a homosexual jewish person. This person was the nicest person you have ever met. He was kind to everyone. He had very high moral standards. You see what I'm getting at. But according to my religion and your religion, this person will go to hell. No matter how good he was.

Please change the font. I had to quote and edit to be able to read it properly.

EDIT: I don't understand what you're trying to say.

Not particularly. As the Bible isn't claimed to be what God meant to say, it's what people interpreted his word as. Leviticus( the most commonly cited anti-homosexual scripture ) wasn't actually declaring sins, he was merely stating what he believed people should do to be "holy." The same section prevents killing animals outside of temple, especially for food, and we can all agree that hasn't been done in thousands of years.

I didn't limit this thread to Christianity, but that's interesting. Christians are against homosexuality on the basis of something that was only written based on interpretations... Interesting...

It's the same with most religions, the holy book isn't the word of god as god said it, it's how various people( prophets, etc ) interpreted what he told them.
