Can vouch. I kind of know someone who came across something in the national security sphere - counterintelligence and espionage (human intelligence recruitment by foreign agents).

An odd sense of… I don’t want to use the word ‘duty’ , nor patriotism , but perhaps…. “responsibility” brought that person to report in the manner you described above.

And sure enough, that person received a call from a number that didn’t feel like a random spam call rang persons phone.

I was told It was very thorough. It was taken seriously. They did their homework. Very lengthy call, requested a lot of documentation, followed up on that documentation. And that was it.

Does not know a thing further. Person said it was a sort of… lonely experience.
