That was me for the first 6 months after getting my license. When I got 'caught', if the cop had been on duty I would have been fined a shitload, car would have been impounded, I'd have lost my license, and had to go to court.

In hindsight, I regret having ever sped and don't do it anymore because I'm scared of getting caught for real. It's a shame that I had to be caught for that to sink in but I don't think it would have otherwise.

I doubt you'll stop speeding now having just read this. You're going to stop sooner or later though, whether it's because you get fined or because you hurt someone. I got real lucky in that all I got was a stern word from the cop and an ass whooping from my parents.

Just because I speed does not mean that I am a wreckless driver and will cause harm to myself and others. I have taken a defensive driving course and I can read traffic extremely well. I understand what you are saying but you are right, I don't think I will change from reading that.

Maybe when you hit a small child and they are splattered across your windscreen and die because you were driving 40mph in a 30mph zone, you may realize how dangerous speeding is. Whether or not you believe you are a good driver a small child, dog or anyone can happen to just step into the road without you seeing. Even the most experienced of drivers are involved in accidents.
