Good question. I used to be able to do 14 chin-ups, then my forearms started hurting the more I did them. So I switched to pullups and do those much more often. I still only do chin ups to make sure I can still do at least 3-5.
Either you have serious forearm problems or you have a ridiculously strong back and absolutely no arms. Something isn't quite right.
My arms are average size, nothing big but not puny. I would like to say it's my back. My lats are pretty apparent IMO.
