How many Pull-ups can you do? - Guardian - 05-06-2013

In response to the pushup thread: http://www.discussionzone.net/Thread-How-many-push-ups-can-you-do

How many pullups can you do straight? Or chin-ups if you prefer, or both.

I can do 20 pullups straight. I am positive I can do more, but I stop at 20 before I start my next set which is usually 10, and then 5 to finish off.

For chin-ups, I suck. I can do about 5 before stopping.

What about you?

How is it you can do less chin-ups than pull-ups? Most people find it easier to do more chins because you use more biceps and less back. I can do about 18 chins on a good day and maybe 5-10 pull-ups.

Biggrin Good question. I used to be able to do 14 chin-ups, then my forearms started hurting the more I did them. So I switched to pullups and do those much more often. I still only do chin ups to make sure I can still do at least 3-5.

Either you have serious forearm problems or you have a ridiculously strong back and absolutely no arms. Something isn't quite right. Confused

My arms are average size, nothing big but not puny. I would like to say it's my back. My lats are pretty apparent IMO.

Not many, exercise isn't a major factor in my life. I'm withered. 4 stone pissed wet through.

Pull-ups has always been a struggle for me. I really try hard to do many but I end up with on 1-2 sometimes three.
