Stem cell research is just incredible. I wonder where it will take us another 50 years down the line. Will these ultra-rare treatments become the norm?
I always wonder that about these new things. I feel like I always see that there is some breakthrough new treatment for this or that, but then I never hear about it again or see it. I don't know what it takes to get things to the mainsteam.
A lot of time and money. And sometimes luck too. There's a big difference between something that is possible, and something that the average person, aka millions - billions of people can have access to. Some stuff is researched for decades with the intent to put it into action only when needed. The covid vaccines are a fine example of this. 10+ years of development so these things can be mass produced at speed when needed. However, if there isn't a global crisis or enough clearance for clinical trials, it can take 30 years, or never happen at all.
