I've been experimenting with OpenBSD for the last few weeks and it kinda grew on me. It's not really a "muh main desktop" material but I dig its philosophy. Being BSD means that a lot of love went to writing documentation, BSD.rc init system is an absolute delight to use, ports system reminds me of gentoo's portage but instead of writing USE flags you can just check them via curses dialog. And lastly, pf is, hands down, the best firewall I have ever used. Also you can hack the install on any linux enabled vps you have console access to. No need for custom images, but that is *BSD feature in general I think, I am pretty sure I could install FreeBSD the same way.
