I think this thread has evolved more into a debate between 16GB users and 32GB users, both claiming very similar (and important points). Furthermore, a lot of useful information has been shared about choosing memory for performance or size. I know I've contributed a lot of timing information, people have brought up density, row hammering may have been mentioned, etc. Regardless, the thread doesn't seem to be about the size anymore, it's just a group of hobbyists discussing their expereinces with different brands, timings, densities, sizes, and configurations of RAM that's sure to help users make choices for a very long time.
Oh I know. I wasn't talking about you or Mothered who I understand already were in your own little zone but the various posts outside of that discussion that were obviously directed at OP made me chuckle imagining him still undecided 8 months later.

lol yeah. I find that advice threads usually burn a lot longer than the OP ever needs them to.

Yes, I certainly agree.

Sometimes It's difficult to Interpret a post (In text form) as per the poster's thoughts.

It's not really resurrecting a dead thread if there is still input from other users which may help future readers decide the route they want to go. The more information and opinions the better.

You really shouldn't gravedig threads. The last post was made here nearly 4 years go. If you're going to write replies, focus your time on newer threads.

It can be good for bruteforce attacks. Then you can run several at the same time. Those things can fry your CPU. Biggrin

I'm also running 32 GB of Ram and In my computing environment, It significantly helps run simultaneous VMs without loss of stability/performance.

Especially Hyper-V, which chews memory at the best of times.

I feel like 32GB RAM will become the norm one day. The OP may no longer need the question answered, but I'm sure others may be curious. Reflecting on this old thread, now approximately 5 years into the future, I can already see 16GB becoming a new minimum for some people, especially those who game or use multiple VMs like Mothered.

In other words, why not? It doesn't cost too much nowadays if you're building a desktop.

I guess you could keep it open for anyone else looking for answers.

You might not remember, but I now have 32GB of RAM in my system. I haven't filled all of it up yet, but I think I've gotten above 16GB though.
