Unlike myself (In my younger days), listen to your parents. They only want the best for their child.

I strongly suggest you get your tooth fixed.

The last thing you need, Is for the pain to hit on a public holiday when everything Is closed.

Yeah I scheduled an appointment for Tuesday since I am out of school and my finals begin on Thursday. Smile

I go every 6 months as well. I'm still getting my few cavities filled in from my last checkup and it honestly sucks. I've always hated the dentist.

I can't tell you when the last time I seen a dentist was... I had a cavity filled when I was in the Army @ 18 years old...

I use mouth wash and toothpaste at the same time, Im able to save products... and I brush if lucky twice a day. I have great shape teeth and gums. I use a nice nice toothbrush... too. I spend more than two min brushing as well, when I brush. I stay away from the thinking that doctors and dentists keep me healthy, as well...

I have possibly the worst history ever, when it comes to dentist checks. I actually can't even tell you when the last time was, as I was that young. I grew up with my parents never taking me (I assume due to cost) and was in the mindset that you go when you damage your teeth or get toothache. I got to be a fully-grown adult (ish) when I realised that simply isn't true. At which point, I was barely able to afford food, let alone seriously expensive dentist visits.

Recently, things have changed - I've moved and now have US medical insurance (which covers absolutely nothing in the dental department as far as I've been told), but will be booking an appointment ASAP. I've never had issues with toothache as far as I remember. The one exception - my wisdom teeth are making an appearance, which have only caused pain once, when they pushed through the gums and it was a bit sore for like 30 minutes.

I'm terrified of what the dentist will say. However, it's urgent that I go.

I also used to be terrified of the dentist but now that It's pretty much scheduled visits every 6 months, I've become accustomed to It.

It's best to go and get everything checked out- not only for peace of mind, but for the long term health of your teeth. You never know what's happening beneath the gums, hence I take X-rays each year as well.

Thank you for the advice! I'm sure I have many things wrong with my teeth, considering they've gone unchecked so long. I also know I wasn't the best teeth brusher as a young one! No doubt I'll be paying for past bad habits.

Better to catch it now than when my teeth have fallen out, though Wink

You're always welcome.

I'm posting my thoughts under the advisement of my dentist. He's been my dentist back from my childhood, so he's not the type to rip me off with Inaccurate advice just to get his paycheck.

I am actually waiting for my insurance to rollover next month so I can finish getting my teeth finished, then no more tooth aches for me (I mean I can wish right?).

Here you have to go at least 1 times a year (related with insurance). I don't like going to the dentist, but I don't hate it either, it's just something you need to to do from now to then.
