I've been trying to expand my horizons with music once again, but in the lighter direction (I'm not quite ready for full-on death metal. Yet
). Alt-J, Heavy Young Heathens, Silversun Pickups, and a Canadian artist I just discovered named Grimes are all on my current playlist.
What are you guys listening to from the alt scene? Any recommendations?
Fun fact about Grimes, a lot of her music video for Kill v. Maim (which is nominated for a Juno, kinda cool) was shot here in Toronto in the "secret" Bay Street subway station that gets used in tons of movies.

It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.
