For every movie you watch, read a book.
I think this is good for humanity in general.
Too many fucking idiots that can be cured of their idiocy just by reading and critically thinking about what they read.

I watch too many movies for this. I make sure to read a good one (not academic-related) once every month or two.

The problem isn't that people are watching movies. It's that they're watching bad movies.
Now, I know that's actually completely subjective, but to be more clear, people are watching too many "low-effort" films, that are often the same tried-and-tired formula.
Books aren't that much different. Don't kid yourself, there are tons of terrible books. A ridiculous amount. Simply go into any bookstore and look for young teens, or thriller novels. Most of them are terrible. I don't think that the world would be much smarter if people read one book for each movie they watched. That's because, the same people who watch shitty movies, are the same people who would be satisfied with a shitty novel.
Listen to everything, believe nothing

Yeah it takes willpower and perseverance to read that many books but it's definitely worth it in the end. SOO much more detail lessons from reading a book than going through a movie in an hour

To be honest, I've never read a book In It's entirety. It's simply not my thing, I find It extremely boring.
My educational achievements stem from my computational work- as that also Involves a great deal of reading, but In a different manner. I do agree though, that reading good material does boost one's Intelligence.
