Ubuntu 14.04. Didn't work very well for me; install got bugged a number of times.

I currently run a dual-booted Mint w/ Cinnamon and Windows 10 machine, but use windows more due to my excessive gaming Tongue

I used Debian first. Ubuntu was still kind of in its early days (Dapper, Edgy) and I just didn't like the look and feel of it. I know now that you can customize that, but back then I was a babby and didn't know any better. Debian with GNOME was my first and still my favorite, though I use MATE now.

I would say Debian is more customizable than Ubuntu is. Even though they aren't near the same Quality, but its from a biased opinion as I am not a big fan of Ubuntu even though it was my first.

Mine was BackTrack.

I Initially started with a Live CD, and then hit the Installation. I must say, I loved the transition (from Windows) Inclusive of using the Terminal and It's pre-Installed tools.
Of course, It obviously wasn't my main OS.

The first distro I used that I actually setup on my VM was Kali, I believe.
