Mine was Debian. Went for a pure OS as i used it only for hosting. I still use Debian 8 on my off-shore VPS and modified version of Raspbian on my Raspberry Pi 2 at home.

Ubuntu 9.04. I've gotten so used to Unity and APT-Based systems, I don't really branch out in to RPM. If Ubuntu got too commercial, I'd probably use Debian Unstable Branch. Arch philosophy is nice but I just want to get up and going, Arch is good for practicing your sys admin skillz.

I used Ubuntu about 2 years ago. It was a part of my college classes to use various OS's in VMWare which included Debian and Ubuntu (Mainly Ubuntu). Coming straight from using Windows my whole life, it was a bit confusing.
