You don't got to be experienced with a knife to have one on you knowing it could potentially save your life.
Shit happens and all you can do is try to better prepare for it if it does happen.
There's a reason cops carry guns as primary defense and not knives. Just sayin'.
Faulty or worn out MAGAZINE is the operator's fault. A responsible self defense weapon owner will inspect their equipment regularly to ensure no faults. I won't carry ammo that does not properly cycle through my weapon reliably over a large test sample. Malfunctions do happen which is why you practice them and drill them so they become second nature to correct. I have 4 spare 17 round magazines for my one pistol, and an additional 10 round magazine for it. If all else fails I have a second pistol that can act as a BUG.
I'm not discounting the value of a knife at all. A knife is an important tool and skills in using that tool are equally important. I'm simply stating that there are options w/ firearms as well for backup options.
