I've suffered similar problems with a different laptop using a realtek card the problem is the card itself isn't 100% compatible with the drivers the solution I used was to buy a usb adapter as I was having issues with packet injection anyway and connecting through that it's now stable and problem free

No problem you might be able to find alternate drivers to fix the connection issues but you will still have issues with packet injection which is why I didn't bother looking it just depends what you wish to use it for

If you want a great wireless network card with enhanced range and capable of packet injection try the Alfa AWUS036H. I've used several alfa products (3 different usb wlan adapters and a router of theirs,) and I swear by them. the AWUS036H drivers come standard in backtrack 5 r1, 2, and 3 so you don't need to worry about installation, and literally doubled the range from my stock wlan card.
