Unstable Wifi Connection - MalleusDemonium - 12-11-2012 I have just install backtrack 5 r3 on my laptop so i can use it when im at work. I've installed it in my USB... At first the connection was good. Internet speed was fair.. The problem is with that every 5-10 mins, my wifi connection is severed... My laptop is an toshiba compact presario with a realtek wifi adapter.. I'va also installed it in my new laptop and there is no fluctuations in the wifi connection. Does anyone experience this same problem? If yes, any tip you can provide will be appreciated. Thanks in advance ![]() RE: Unstable Wifi Connection - chmod - 12-11-2012 I've suffered similar problems with a different laptop using a realtek card the problem is the card itself isn't 100% compatible with the drivers the solution I used was to buy a usb adapter as I was having issues with packet injection anyway and connecting through that it's now stable and problem free RE: Unstable Wifi Connection - MalleusDemonium - 12-12-2012 Oh i see. Thanks for he feedback... RE: Unstable Wifi Connection - chmod - 12-12-2012 No problem you might be able to find alternate drivers to fix the connection issues but you will still have issues with packet injection which is why I didn't bother looking it just depends what you wish to use it for RE: Unstable Wifi Connection - Linuxephus™ - 12-22-2012 (12-11-2012, 02:26 PM)MalleusDemonium Wrote: I have just install backtrack 5 r3 on my laptop so i can use it when im at work. Thanks in advance Generally any issues you may have with a Wi-Fi connection pertaining to Linux of the Debian and/or Ubuntu based distributions is a result of the driver not being compatible or in some cases a lack of a driver altogether. Which in this day & age is a rarity truth be told. Most wireless issues can be solved with the appropriate driver being installed (obviously of course), even if it means compiling one for use in the kernel. Notwithstanding one's wireless card being supported, which again, in this day & age via Linux, most are with-in a 10 year period. Footnote: In my experience (infer personally), Atheros offers the best compatibility as well as simpler utilization for packet injection. RE: Unstable Wifi Connection - snowblind956 - 01-17-2013 If you want a great wireless network card with enhanced range and capable of packet injection try the Alfa AWUS036H. I've used several alfa products (3 different usb wlan adapters and a router of theirs,) and I swear by them. the AWUS036H drivers come standard in backtrack 5 r1, 2, and 3 so you don't need to worry about installation, and literally doubled the range from my stock wlan card. |
